Driving Assessments and Rehabilitation
Comprehensive Driving Assessments
Following an illness or injury, your ability to drive safely may be affected. Your doctor may refer you to an Occupational Therapist who specialises in driving to complete a comprehensive driving assessment.
The Occupational Therapy driving assessment is a specialised and comprehensive assessment and involves 2 parts – pre-drive assessment and on-road assessment.
The pre-drive assessment takes approximately 1.5 hours and we will assess your physical, thinking and visual skills and how your medical condition may affect your driving.
The on-road driving assessment is the practical component involving driving for 50 mins using a Specialised Driving Instructors vehicle (for safety purposes).
After the assessment, the Occupational Therapist will discuss the outcome and recommendations which may include further driver rehabilitation lessons.
Our ABI Solutions Occupational Therapists are highly experienced and have post graduate training in driver assessment and rehabilitation.
